BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
An antioxidant plant extract. Safe.
Wild cherry extract (INCI: Prunus Serotina Fruit Extract) is a plant-derived ingredient with anthocyanins and other antioxidant polyphenols. In cosmetics it is used to support the skin's defence and bring radiance and evenness to the tone. Its efficacy is that of a botanical support ingredient. The fruit polyphenols show antioxidant activity in lab work, which justifies its role against oxidative stress and its place in brightening formulas. Even so, direct clinical evidence on tone is scarce: it complements the main active, it does not replace it. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. As a fruit extract, people with stone-fruit allergies should keep the usual caution, though reactions are infrequent.
