Camu camu fruit extract (INCI: Myrciaria Dubia Fruit Extract) comes from an Amazonian fruit with one of the highest natural concentrations of vitamin C. In cosmetics it is used for its antioxidant profile and for supporting a more even, radiant tone, mostly in serums and anti-aging formulas. As an active it is supporting. Real vitamin C works against oxidative stress and pigmentation, but in a botanical extract its concentration and stability are usually lower than in a pure vitamin C form. It is better seen as a good antioxidant complement than as a replacement for a concentrated ascorbic active. For topical use there is no relevant systemic risk. It can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential, fine for sensitive skin. It is not noted as comedogenic or drying.
