Resveratrol Dimethyl Ether (pterostilbene) is a derivative of resveratrol, a plant stilbene. INCI: Resveratrol Dimethyl Ether. Two methyl groups make the molecule more stable and more fat-soluble than plain resveratrol, so it holds up better in a formula and penetrates skin more readily. In a formula it works as an antioxidant: it neutralizes free radicals and supports defense against oxidative stress. The antioxidant rationale is solid, but topical clinical data on a standalone skincare result are limited, so it is a supporting active rather than a treatment with a large evidence base. Pregnancy safety. Topical use is systemically negligible, with no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low.
