White Lupin Seed Extract (Lupinus Albus Seed Extract) is an aqueous or hydroglycolic extract of white lupin seeds (Lupinus albus). Active components are peptides (especially the tetrapeptide Lupeol), flavonoids, and triterpenoids. Mechanism. Lupin peptides stimulate type I collagen synthesis in fibroblasts in vitro and suppress matrix metalloproteinase activity (MMP-1, MMP-9), which degrades collagen. Antioxidant effect via neutralization of reactive oxygen species. Where applied. Anti-aging serums and creams, anti-pigmentation products. Known in the commercial ingredient Lipigenine (Silab) for jawline contouring. In Spain in Skeyndor and Mesoestetic Energy C. Formula concentrations 1–3%. Evidence base. Silab, the supplier, published a double-blind study (n=20, 2 months) showing improved skin density and elasticity. No independent RCTs. CIR and SCCS have not published a separate assessment. Safety. Non-comedogenic. Rare allergic reactions are possible in patients with known legume allergy (beans, peanuts). Pregnancy and lactation – topically safe at cosmetic concentrations.
