Mung Bean Seed Extract (Vigna Radiata Seed Extract) is an aqueous extract of mung bean seeds. Composition: peptides, flavonoids (vitexin, isovitexin), phytosterols, isoflavones. Mechanism. Claimed anti-inflammatory and soothing action via NF-κB suppression and IL-6 reduction in vitro. Contains phytosterols – structural analogs of skin cholesterol, support the barrier. Where applied. Korean sensitive-skin and anti-acne products (Innisfree Mung Bean Mask), face masks, anti-inflammation products. Rare in Europe. Concentration 0.5–3%. Evidence base. Human RCTs are few (n<30), all from Korea. No systematic review. CIR has not published a separate assessment. Pregnancy and lactation – topically safe at cosmetic concentrations. Hypoallergenic (except in patients with known legume allergy).
