A hydrating algae extract. Safe.
Hizikia Fusiforme Extract is an extract from a brown alga that provides minerals, polysaccharides and trace elements. In a formula it acts mainly as a humectant and conditioning agent: it helps hold water, improves the skin's feel and makes the texture more comfortable. It is used in moisturizers, masks and formulas with an anti-aging positioning. This is a functional supporting ingredient. The hydrating and feel part is reasonable; the more ambitious anti-aging claims, by contrast, rest on modest direct evidence, so it is better seen as a good bonus than the product's main active. With topical use it has no systemic relevance, so you can use it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy are both low, and it suits sensitive skin. It does not dry the skin or add meaningful comedogenic load. As with any marine extract, on very reactive skin it is worth patch-testing on a small area first.
