C13-14 Isoparaffin is a branched hydrocarbon from petroleum refining. INCI: C13-14 Isoparaffin. In a formula it works as an emollient and solvent, and most often it is part of a thickening system together with polyacrylamide: together they give gels and emulsions the right viscosity and a smooth slip. It is a functional component, not a skincare active. It gives a light, non-greasy texture. Pregnancy safety. Systemic absorption through intact skin is low and there is no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low, it is non-comedogenic, and it suits sensitive skin.
