A yeast hydrolyzate with amino acids and peptides. It supports hydration and skin comfort. Well tolerated.
Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A hydrating biocomponent. Safe.
Hydrolyzed Yeast Extract is made by breaking yeast proteins down into amino acids and small peptides. In a formula it works as a humectant and mild conditioner: the amino acids draw water and improve the comfort feel of the skin. As an active it is a supporting component. It gives light hydration and can add a firmer feel, but peptides from hydrolysis are non-specific, not comparable to a defined signaling peptide. Some revitalizing claims go beyond what the data support, so it is fairer to present it as an auxiliary humectant. Topically the systemic contribution is negligible, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: low irritation and allergy, suitable for sensitive skin. It has no meaningful comedogenic profile, so it fits any skin type.
