Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate (Pitera) is a fermentation product of Galactomyces yeast (close to Saccharomyces). Contains amino acids, organic acids (lactic, succinic), B vitamins, minerals, enzymes, beta-glucans. Where applied. Essences, toners, serums in Asian skincare. Cult product SK-II Facial Treatment Essence (since the 1980s). Also Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence, Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence. In Spain through Asian skincare premium corners. Evidence base. Saito 2012 (Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol) in 207 women with post-acne marks and uneven tone: daily use of 6% Galactomyces ferment filtrate improved texture and tone over 12 weeks. Hwang 2017: pore size reduction over 8 weeks. Sources mainly from Korean and Japanese brand research centers; few independent RCTs. Safety. CIR confirmed safety. Hypoallergenic in most cases. Patients allergic to brewer's yeast and Malassezia (seborrheic dermatitis, fungal acne) may react. Mild irritation in the first 1-2 weeks in sensitive skin. Pregnancy – safe. Lactation – no data, but topical use poses no documented systemic risk.
