10-Hydroxydecanoic acid (INCI 10-Hydroxydecanoic Acid) is a medium-chain fatty acid found naturally in royal jelly. In formulas it acts as an emollient and conditioning agent: it softens the surface, improves the slip of the texture and helps stabilize the oil phase of the product. On efficacy, this is a functional component, not a treatment active. It adds pleasant skin feel and comfort, but you should not expect wrinkle correction or tone changes from it. Its role is supportive and sensory. Topically, systemic absorption is negligible, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding with no expected concern. Tolerance is high: low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. At usual cosmetic levels it carries no notable comedogenic profile.
