Hemp seed oil (Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil) is pressed from hemp seeds. Contains NO THC – the psychoactive part of the plant is in the resin glands of leaves and flowers, not seeds. Composition. Linoleic acid (~55%), alpha-linolenic (~17%), gamma-linolenic (~3%), oleic (~12%). Optimal omega-6/omega-3 ratio near 3:1 – not matched by any other plant oil. Where applied. Callaway 2005 RCT in 20 atopic dermatitis patients over 20 weeks of 2 g/day oral intake: reduced dryness and itching. Direct topical RCTs are few; data rest on linoleic-acid-rich oils (Vaughn 2018) – barrier and TEWL improvement in atopy. Safety. CIR confirmed safety. Comedogenicity 0 on the Fulton scale – does not clog pores. Well tolerated by acne-prone and combination skin. Pregnancy and lactation – safe topically.
