PPG-24-glycereth-24 (INCI PPG-24-Glycereth-24) is a compound that combines polypropylene glycol chains and ethoxylated glycerin. It plays two technical roles in a formula: it works as a solvent that helps dissolve and distribute other actives, and as a humectant that draws water toward the skin. It appears in serums, essences and water-based formulas. On efficacy, this is a functional component, not a care active. Its work is supportive: it improves the texture and spread of the formula and adds a little hydration. It is best judged by that role rather than by any cosmetic effect of its own. Applied topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. Already-sensitized people may see an occasional reaction, though most do not.
