About this ingredient

Hydrolyzed Sponge consists of fragments of the freshwater Spongilla sponge with micro-silica spicules. INCI: Hydrolyzed Sponge. Used as a mild mechanical exfoliant. In cosmetics it gives a light peeling effect and improves skin texture. The micro-spicules create channels for active penetration. Use levels run from 0.1 to 2%. Pregnancy safety. Topically safe. Skin profile. May cause stinging and redness, especially on sensitive or rosacea skin. Non-comedogenic.
