Magnesium myristate (INCI Magnesium Myristate) is the magnesium salt of myristic acid, a soft powder with a fatty feel. In a formula it acts as a slip agent and filler: it gives powders and loose textures a silky touch, helps them lay down evenly and adds a soft matte finish. It is common in pressed powders, eyeshadows and blushes. This is a functional texture ingredient, not a care active. It does not hydrate or repair the skin; its job is to make the product pleasant to apply and stable. The effect is cosmetic, not biological. Used topically the ingredient has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without concern. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. Comedogenicity is rated very low (1 on a scale to 5), so there is no meaningful risk for acne-prone skin at the usual powder levels. Most people show no reaction.
