About this ingredient

Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) is one of three main vitamin B6 forms (alongside pyridoxal and pyridoxamine). In skin involved in amino-acid and lipid metabolism. Where applied. Serums, problem-skin creams (0.1-1%), hair products (growth stimulation, hair-loss management). Marketed as a "sebum regulator" and "hair growth stimulator". Evidence base. Oral pyridoxine in seborrheic dermatitis has been studied in small studies (Schreiner 1952) with moderate effect. No convincing topical RCTs. In hair-loss products pyridoxine appears as a complex component, but standalone activity in androgenetic alopecia is unconfirmed. Safety. Hypoallergenic at cosmetic concentrations. Minimal topical systemic absorption – the hypervitaminosis B6 risk (peripheral neuropathy with oral intake >200 mg/day) is not described topically. Pregnancy and lactation – safe. Systemic pyridoxine in pregnancy is first-line for morning sickness. No topical restrictions.
