Sucrose Palmitate (E473) is a natural non-ionic emulsifier ester of sucrose and palmitic acid. Biocompatible, allowed as a food additive. Mechanism. Amphiphilic molecule: sucrose stays in water, palmitate in the oil phase. Stabilises o/w emulsions, gives a soft texture with light spread. Often used in clean formulas as a PEG-emulsifier alternative. Where applied. Atopic-skin creams, infant skincare, natural emulsions. In Spain – ingredient in Babé Laboratorios, Naobay, Freshly Cosmetics. Safety. CIR confirmed safety across all cosmetic types. Non-sensitizing, non-comedogenic. No systemic absorption.
