INCI: Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate
Modern UVA filter by BASF (DHHB). Covers the long UVA range and stabilizes avobenzone, which degrades under sunlight without support.
Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
Well-studied UVA filter with a clean safety profile. Particularly useful in formulas with avobenzone, where it prevents photodegradation.
Uvinul A Plus is the trade name for Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, also known as DHHB. BASF developed it as an oil-soluble organic UVA filter with peak absorption around 354 nm. This covers the UVA1 range responsible for deep photoaging, pigmentation, and free-radical induction in the dermis. Maximum allowed concentration in cosmetics is 10% in the EU, Japan, Australia, and most of Asia. Not approved as an over-the-counter filter in the United States as of 2026. Photostability. DHHB stays stable after hours of UV exposure, unlike classic avobenzone. It often pairs with Tinosorb S or octocrylene to extend UVB+UVA coverage. Pregnancy safety. Systemic absorption through intact skin is minimal. Human blood studies report DHHB below the detection limit after 2 mg/cm² applied to 75% of body surface. No teratogenic effects in the literature. Standard endocrine assays find no activity. Skin safety. Low irritation and low allergen risk in patch tests. Suitable for sensitive skin and patients with photodermatoses. Comedogenic potential is minimal. Compared with avobenzone. Avobenzone covers a similar UVA range but is photo-unstable without stabilizers and often causes irritation. Uvinul A Plus is photostable and better tolerated. Bottom line. Uvinul A Plus is a modern UVA filter with high photostability, low irritation, and an acceptable pregnancy profile. One of the strongest UVA tools in premium sunscreens outside the US market.

The Evigrade extension adds an evidence panel to Wildberries, Goldapple, Letu, iHerb, Sephora and 12 more stores. This ingredient and every other one in the product show evidence-tier, allergen risk and pregnancy/lactation flags at a glance.
Uvinul A Plus is considered safe during pregnancy at typical cosmetic concentrations. Systemic absorption through the skin is minimal.
