In formulas they give a light, airy texture, softly fill in irregularities and create an optical effect of smoother relief. This is a functional ingredient with a purely sensory and optical effect. The smoothing it provides is cosmetic and instant, sitting on the surface; it does not change the skin or treat real wrinkles. To improve a formula's feel and finish it works, without promising more. Topically it is inert and not meaningfully absorbed, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy risk are both low.
