Aluminum/magnesium hydroxide stearate (INCI: Aluminum/Magnesium Hydroxide Stearate) is a mineral-based stabilizer and thickener. In formulas it keeps pigments and oils evenly dispersed and helps give the product body and texture. This is a purely functional ingredient. It has no effect on the skin; its job is stability and even distribution of the formula, mostly in makeup and sunscreens. Expecting a skincare benefit from it would be asking for something outside its role. Topically it is inert and not meaningfully absorbed, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy risk are both low. Because it stays on the surface and does not penetrate, it rarely causes problems, even on sensitive skin.
