A functional mineral thickener. Safe.
Magnesium Aluminum Silicate is a natural clay mineral (purified smectite). INCI: Magnesium Aluminum Silicate. In a formula it works as a thickener, emulsion stabilizer, and suspending agent: it raises viscosity, keeps pigments and insoluble particles suspended, and gives creams and masks a smooth structure. It is a functional rheology component, not a skincare active. It often works paired with cellulose thickeners. Pregnancy safety. An inert mineral, it does not penetrate skin, is systemically negligible, and there is no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low, suitable for sensitive skin.
