Polyglyceryl-2 Isostearate is a plant-derived emulsifier made from glycerin and isostearic acid. Its INCI name is Polyglyceryl-2 Isostearate. In a formula it binds the oil and water phases so the cream stays uniform, and it leaves a soft, emollient feel on the skin. This is a functional ingredient, not a skincare active. It does not fix wrinkles or pigmentation; its job is to give the emulsion structure and stability. In that role it works well and is often chosen as a gentler substitute for PEG-based emulsifiers. Applied topically, its systemic absorption is negligible, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without concern. Tolerance is high. It has a low irritation and allergy potential, which makes it suitable for sensitive skin. Most people see no reaction at all.
