It stabilizes creams and lotions, keeps the oil-and-water mix uniform, and gives a softening touch. This is a functional component, not a skincare active. Its value lies in structure: it forms stable emulsions with a creamy texture and even spread. It has no corrective effect on skin. It acts in the formula and at the skin surface, with no meaningful systemic absorption, so it is compatible with pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: low irritation potential, low allergy risk, and mild surfactant harshness, which lowers the risk of drying.
