Polyisobutene (and hydrogenated polyisobutene) is a synthetic isobutylene polymer. A technical emollient with film finish, replacing mineral oils and natural waxes in colour cosmetics. Where applied. Lipsticks, lip glosses, tints, mascaras, brow products (5-30%). Provides water resistance and pigment durability. Safety. CIR confirmed polyisobutene and hydrogenated form safety. Does not penetrate epidermis, no systemic absorption. Pregnancy and lactation – safe.
