Sweet almond oil is pressed from the kernels of sweet almond (Prunus amygdalus dulcis). INCI: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil. In a formula it works as an emollient and a barrier-support component: it is rich in oleic and linoleic acids, softens skin, reduces water loss, and gives a nourished feel. It suits dry and normal skin, body products, and massage. Its standalone clinical effect is modest; the main role is emollient. Allergenicity. This is a nut oil, and with a confirmed nut allergy it is treated with caution, although refined cosmetic grades contain little allergenic protein. Pregnancy safety: topical use is systemically negligible. Tolerance. Irritation potential is low, suitable for dry skin.
