Sodium Sulfate (INCI: Sodium Sulfate) is a mineral salt. In a formula it regulates viscosity, holds ionic balance and is often used to thicken or thin surfactant systems, as well as a diluent. This is a functional ingredient, not a treatment active. Its job is texture and ionic stability, with no effect of its own on wrinkles, pigmentation or barrier. Topically its systemic relevance is negligible, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without restriction. Tolerance is good. Irritation and allergy potential are low, suitable for sensitive skin. It is not linked to clogged pores, and in most people it causes no reaction at all.
