Sodium Trideceth Sulfate (INCI: Sodium Trideceth Sulfate) is an ethoxylated sulfate surfactant. In a formula it cleanses and produces rich foam in shampoos, gels, and cleansers; it is slightly milder than classic SLS thanks to its ethoxylation. It is a functional cleansing ingredient, not a care active. Its job is to lift oil and dirt effectively. It provides no hydration or care beyond washing. In rinse-off topical use it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without concern. Tolerance is moderate. Irritation and allergy are low, but because of its cleansing power, frequent use can dry out skin and scalp, especially on dry or barrier-compromised skin. In those cases it helps to alternate with gentler cleansers.
