Boron nitride (INCI: Boron Nitride) is a mineral filler used mostly in makeup. Its plate-like particles give a soft slip, smooth out coverage and soften the way pigments reflect, for a more polished, less flat finish. It is a functional component, not a care active. It works on the sensory and optical side: silky texture, light diffusion, glare reduction. It does not hydrate, treat or act on skin processes, so it is best read as a cosmetic finishing ingredient rather than a treatment. It is inert and has no systemic uptake topically, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is high: low irritation potential and low allergy risk, fine for sensitive skin. As an inert mineral powder it carries no relevant comedogenic load.
