Butyl Acetate (INCI same) is a solvent used in nail polish. It keeps the film-formers and pigments liquid during application and then evaporates, leaving the dried lacquer on the nail. On efficacy: this is a functional formulation ingredient, not a skincare active. It gives nothing to the skin; its role is technical, setting the right viscosity and drying speed for the polish. At that task it works well and is a classic industry solvent. After it evaporates none remains in the dried product, so skin contact is minimal. It can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is high: low irritation and allergy potential. Apply in a ventilated area, since solvent vapor can bother the airways while drying, but the risk to skin is low.
