Sorbeth-230 Tetraoleate is a mild co-surfactant and solubilizer derived from ethoxylated sorbitol esterified with oleic acid. In a formula it helps dissolve oils and fragrances into water bases, keeps the product uniform and cleanses gently. It shows up in micellar waters, light cleansers and clear gels. This is a functional ingredient, not a treatment active. Its role is to stabilize the blend and add gentle cleansing action, not to treat the skin. It does well as a solubilizer, but do not ask it for anti-aging or repair benefits. With topical use systemic absorption is negligible, so you can use it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy are both low, and its mild character makes it a fit for sensitive skin. As a low-aggression co-surfactant it rarely dries the skin, though rinsing well always helps in routines with several cleansers.
