In a formula it gives a pearly shine and a glowing finish, so it is used in color cosmetics: powders, eyeshadows, highlighters, and lipsticks. It is a pigment, not a skincare active. It acts on skin only visually. Tolerance. Irritation potential is generally low, but in some people bismuth oxychloride in makeup causes irritation or small breakouts, especially on sensitive and acne-prone skin. If skin reacts to shimmer textures, this is worth keeping in mind. Pregnancy safety. An inert mineral pigment, it does not penetrate skin, is systemically negligible, and there is no evidence of harm.
