It appears in toners, gels, body products and cosmetics with an energizing profile. On efficacy it is a supporting and sensory component. It provides a fresh feel and adds to the scent, but the evidence for a marked cosmetic benefit is limited. Its main role is the use experience, not targeted skin treatment. For topical use it has no systemic relevance and can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
