Cocamide MIPA (INCI: Cocamide MIPA) is a co-surfactant and thickener derived from coconut oil. In a formula it stabilizes foam and gives body and viscosity to shampoos and gels, improving the look and feel of the product. It is a functional texture-and-foam ingredient, not a care active. It does not cleanse strongly on its own or provide skin benefits; it works in the background so the formula feels and looks better. In rinse-off topical use it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without concern. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy potential are low, suitable for sensitive skin. At usual cosmetic concentrations most people show no reaction at all.
