In formulas it binds oil and water, stabilizes the emulsion and leaves a soft texture on application. This is a functional ingredient, not a skincare active. Its job is to hold the mix together and improve feel, with a light softening effect from its oleic part. It does not treat the skin; it serves its technical role reliably. Topically there is no meaningful systemic exposure, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy risk are both low. At the usual levels of finished formulas it behaves well and fits without trouble into products for sensitive skin.
