Phaseolus Angularis (Adzuki) Seed Extract (INCI: Phaseolus Angularis Seed Extract) comes from the Japanese red bean and supplies proteins, sugars and starches. In a formula it works as a humectant and gentle conditioner, helping skin hold water and leaving a smooth feel. On efficacy it is a supporting component. Adzuki bean is traditionally used as a powder scrub, but as an extract in a formula its main role is to hydrate and soften, not to exfoliate. Clinical skin data are thin, so it is best seen as a pleasant addition without big promises. In pregnancy and breastfeeding topical use poses no systemic problem. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential, fine for sensitive skin. People with a legume allergy could see an isolated reaction, though that is uncommon.
