Mechanism
Calcium carbonate may reduce bisoprolol GI absorption when taken simultaneously. The effect is weak and clinically minor.
Symptoms
Minimal changes. In some patients, mild return of hypertension or angina symptoms with prolonged concurrent use.
Management
Separate bisoprolol and calcium carbonate by 2 hours. Most patients require no special adjustment.
