Aluminum sucrose octasulfate (INCI Aluminum Sucrose Octasulfate) is a mineral salt derived from sucrose, related to the medical agent sucralfate. In cosmetics it goes into soothing, repairing formulas, where it is linked to more comfortable irritated skin and to support of barrier recovery. On efficacy, the fair framing is a supporting ingredient with a plausible basis. There is a rationale and use experience on reactive skin, though clinical evidence in cosmetics is limited. It provides comfort to sensitized skin without being a first-line treatment active. Systemic exposure from topical use is negligible, so it can be used in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy risk are low, fitting precisely the sensitive and reactive skin that is its usual audience. It does not dry the skin and is not linked to pore clogging.
