About this ingredient
Butyloctyl Salicylate is an ester of salicylic acid and a fatty alcohol. INCI: Butyloctyl Salicylate. In a formula it works as an emollient and stabilizer of ultraviolet filters: it gives a light slip, helps dissolve and evenly spread organic UV filters, and raises their photostability. On its own it gives no meaningful SPF; its role is supportive, improving how a sunscreen works. It is a functional component, not a standalone filter or skincare active. Pregnancy safety. Systemic absorption through intact skin is low and there is no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low, suitable for sensitive skin.
