Butyloctyl Salicylate is an ester of salicylic acid and a fatty alcohol. INCI: Butyloctyl Salicylate. In a formula it works as an emollient and stabilizer of ultraviolet filters: it gives a light slip, helps dissolve and evenly spread organic UV filters, and raises their photostability. On its own it gives no meaningful SPF; its role is supportive, improving how a sunscreen works. It is a functional component, not a standalone filter or skincare active. Pregnancy safety. Systemic absorption through intact skin is low and there is no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance.
