Silicone polymer with hydroxyl groups at chain ends. Forms a breathable film and holds moisture in the stratum corneum.
Topical application
CWeak evidence. In vitro data, open-label studies, or expert consensus.
Safe silicone with good skin tolerance. Does not penetrate the skin and rinses off with regular cleansing.
Dimethiconol is a silicone polymer with hydroxyl groups at chain ends. Differs from regular dimethicone (Dimethicone) by having reactive -OH groups, which let the molecule form hydrogen bonds with stratum corneum proteins. Mechanism. On skin it forms a thin breathable film, retains moisture in the stratum corneum, restores the barrier. On hair – seals the cuticle, smooths the surface, adds shine, protects against heat (blow-dryer, flat iron). Compared with regular dimethicone, dimethiconol adheres better to skin and hair after the first wash. Where applied. Shampoos, conditioners, hair masks, heat protection, 'glow' creams and serums. In Spain – Pantene Pro-V Repair, Garnier Fructis Daring Curls, Klorane Mango Repair, in L'Oréal Elvive serums. Evidence base. A functional component with many years of use in hair products. Effect on hair smoothness and heat protection confirmed in standard tests. On skin – sensory and film-forming properties confirmed; no active skin pharmacology. Safety. CIR confirmed dimethiconol safe in cosmetic use. Hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, non-irritating. Suitable for fungal acne patients. Pregnancy and lactation – safe. No restrictions. Best suited to: dry, damaged hair, compromised barrier skin, post-procedure care. Any skin and hair type as a functional component.

The Evigrade extension adds an evidence panel to Wildberries, Goldapple, Letu, iHerb, Sephora and 12 more stores. This ingredient and every other one in the product show evidence-tier, allergen risk and pregnancy/lactation flags at a glance.
Dimethiconol is considered safe during pregnancy at typical cosmetic concentrations. Systemic absorption through the skin is minimal.
Dimethiconol suits: normal, dry, oily, combination, sensitive.
