An antioxidant plant extract. Safe.
Zingiber Officinale Root Extract is a ginger root extract rich in phenolic compounds such as gingerols, with antioxidant activity. In serums and creams it helps neutralize free radicals and gives the skin a toning feel. As a plant antioxidant it has a modest evidence base: it adds to the protection part of a formula, but it is best seen as a supporting component rather than the central active of an anti-aging routine. For topical use it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential. Even so, aromatic botanical extracts can sensitize very reactive people, so on sensitive skin it is worth introducing it gradually.
