Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A soothing plant extract. Safe, well tolerated.
Dandelion root extract (INCI Taraxacum Officinale Rhizome/Root Extract) comes from the root and rhizome of the plant. It contains compounds with antioxidant activity and is used in cosmetics as a soothing ingredient that helps keep skin looking comfortable. On efficacy, the sensible move is to temper expectations. This is a supporting botanical extract with mostly lab data and little clinical evidence on skin. It adds an antioxidant note and a pleasant soothing feel, but it does not replace treatment actives with solid backing. Systemic exposure from topical use is negligible, so it can be used in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy risk are low, fine for sensitive skin. It does not dry the skin and is not linked to pore clogging. People allergic to plants in the daisy family can patch test first as a precaution.
