A zerumbet ginger plant extract. It soothes and supports the skin's antioxidant defense. Well tolerated.
Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A soothing plant extract. Safe.
Zingiber zerumbet extract (same INCI) comes from a variety of tropical ginger. It brings compounds such as zerumbone with antioxidant activity and a soothing profile, and in a formula it serves as a supporting botanical. On efficacy it pays to be realistic. There are interesting signals in lab studies, but solid topical evidence in people is limited. Count it as a supporting component, not a standalone lead active. During pregnancy and breastfeeding it is fine to use topically at cosmetic concentrations. Tolerance is good: low irritation and low allergy potential. As with any ginger or aromatic plant extract, an individual reaction is possible in sensitized people, though most do not react. Suitable for sensitive skin with a gradual introduction.
