Etlingera elatior or torch ginger extract (INCI: Etlingera Elatior Extract) comes from a tropical Southeast Asian plant. Its flowers and rhizomes contain polyphenols and oils of antioxidant interest, and in cosmetics it is added for freshness and free-radical defense. As an active it is a supporting component. There are in vitro data on its antioxidant capacity, but clinical evidence for visible results on wrinkles or tone is scarce. It makes sense as part of an antioxidant blend rather than as a lead active. Applied topically it has no meaningful systemic absorption, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy risk, suitable for sensitive skin. Given its aromatic origin, very reactive skin might feel occasional discomfort; in most people there is no reaction.
