Cetyl Phosphate is an emulsifier derived from a phosphated fatty alcohol. It binds the oil and water phases into a stable emulsion and shows up often in sunscreen formulas, where it helps spread the filters evenly. This is a functional ingredient, not a skincare active. It does not treat wrinkles or pigment; its job is to stabilise the blend, give a pleasant texture and lay the product on the skin evenly. The emulsifying role is well established. Applied topically there is no meaningful systemic absorption, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without particular limits. Tolerance is good: low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. As a mild surfactant at in-use levels it usually does not dry the skin, though in heavily loaded formulas reactive skin is worth watching.
