Dibutyl ethylhexanoyl glutamide (INCI Dibutyl Ethylhexanoyl Glutamide) is an oil-phase gelling agent derived from the amino acid glutamic acid. Its job is to structure oils, give the formula body and keep it dense and stable, especially in oil gels and cleansing oils. It is a functional ingredient, not a care active. It does not act on skin; it gives the formula consistency and stability. In that role it performs well and enables gelled-oil textures that are hard to achieve otherwise. It is inert on skin and its systemic exposure from topical use is negligible, so it can be used in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is high: irritation and allergy risk are low, suitable for sensitive skin. It does not dry the skin and is not linked to pore clogging in normal use.
