It forms a network that structures the formula and stabilizes emulsions without classic synthetic polymers. It is a functional component, not a treatment active. It gives the product texture, body and stability, and thanks to its amino-acid origin it feels gentle, but on its own it does not hydrate or repair. Its value sits in the formulation, not in any biological effect on skin. Topically there is no relevant systemic uptake, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is high: low irritation potential and low allergy risk, suitable for sensitive skin. It adds no notable comedogenic load.
