It attracts and holds water at the skin's surface and leaves a light film that makes the skin feel smoother and more flexible. On efficacy, it is a reasonable humectant. It does not have the backing of actives like hyaluronic acid or glycerin, but it delivers real surface hydration and a good feel. It works as support within a well-built formula. Applied topically it poses no systemic risk, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is high, with low irritation potential and low allergy risk. It is a good choice for sensitive skin and has no notable comedogenic profile.
