A biotech polysaccharide thickener. It stabilizes the formula and keeps actives suspended. Well tolerated.
Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A functional thickener. Safe.
Diutan Gum is a polysaccharide produced by bacterial fermentation. INCI: Diutan Gum. In a formula it works as a thickener and stabilizer: it raises the viscosity of the water phase, keeps pigments and oil droplets suspended, and gives a smooth texture. It is a functional rheology component, not a skincare active. It has no action on skin of its own and is responsible for the consistency and stability of the product. It is similar in role to xanthan gum but gives a more stringy structure. Pregnancy safety. A polysaccharide does not penetrate skin, is systemically negligible, and there is no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low, suitable for sensitive skin.

The Evigrade extension adds an evidence panel to iHerb, Sephora, Druni and 12 more stores. This ingredient and every other one in the product show evidence-tier, allergen risk and pregnancy/lactation flags at a glance.
Diutan Gum is considered safe during pregnancy at typical cosmetic concentrations. Systemic absorption through the skin is minimal.
