Geranyl Acetate is an ester of geraniol and acetic acid, a scent component of geranium, palmarosa, and citronella essential oils. INCI: Geranyl Acetate. In a formula it gives a sweet, rosy floral aroma. It is a fragrance component, not a skincare active. It has no action on skin of its own and is added for scent at low concentrations. Allergenicity. Geranyl Acetate is related to geraniol, which is on the list of potential fragrance contact allergens. Contact allergy is possible in sensitized people; most do not react. If you are prone to reactions to fragranced cosmetics, introduce such components with care. Pregnancy safety.
