A mild functional co-surfactant. Safe.
Glycereth-2 Cocoate is a mild surfactant derived from coconut oil. In cleansing gels and shampoos it acts as a co-surfactant: it boosts foam, improves skin feel, and softens the harsher action of primary surfactants such as sulfates. This is a functional ingredient, not a skincare active. It does not treat wrinkles or pigmentation and gives no lasting hydration. Its job is to help build a cleanser that lifts grime without leaving skin tight. For topical use it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without concern. Tolerance is good. Irritation and allergy potential are low and its harshness is mild, which suits sensitive skin and daily products. Most people see no reaction.
