Glycol Distearate (Ethylene Glycol Distearate) is the diester of ethylene glycol and stearic acid. An opacifier and pearlescent agent. Where applied. Shampoos, shower gels, conditioners, cleansers (0.5-3%). Gives the product a milky-pearlescent look, masks haziness of concentrated surfactant formulas. No standalone skin activity – a purely aesthetic ingredient. Safety. CIR Final Report 2014 confirmed safety. Non-comedogenic, non-sensitizing. Rare contact reactions possible in sensitive-skin patients in SLS-rich formulas. Pregnancy and lactation – safe.
